Car Rental Manager

Responsibilities: 

Manage day-to-day car rental operations in Maputo, ensuring reliable service, vehicle availability, customer satisfaction, and profitable delivery. Develop a dependable network of vehicle owners, rental companies, drivers, and service providers to support airport transfers, daily rentals, corporate transportation, and long-term vehicle contracts.

• Car Rental Operations: Manage bookings, vehicle allocation, driver deployment, dispatch, and vehicle handover and return.
•  ​Vendor Development & Management: Identify and onboard reliable vehicle owners, car rental companies, transport operators, garages, and other supporting vendors in Maputo and surrounding areas.
• ​ Fleet & Driver Management: Monitor vehicle condition, preventive maintenance, cleanliness, fuel usage, mileage, and availability. Track vehicle and driver documentation, insurance validity, and renewal dates. Supervise driver attendance, grooming, conduct, route knowledge, and customer service standards.
• Corporate Client Service: Coordinate with corporate clients to understand schedules, vehicle specifications, and service expectations. Oversee mobilization and ongoing delivery of long-term rental contracts. Resolve complaints promptly and maintain clear communication with clients.
• Commercial & Financial Control:  Monitor rental revenue, vendor costs, vehicle utilization, and booking profitability. Validate vendor invoices against agreed rates and completed services. Ensure additional mileage, overtime, fuel, parking, and other applicable charges are recorded accurately.
• ​Reporting & Team Coordination: Maintain booking, dispatch, vendor, and customer records in the company’s operational systems. Coordinate with Sales, Finance, and management to deliver consistent service.

Qualification and Experience Required:

Graduate or diploma holder in Business Administration, Transport, Logistics, Hospitality, or a related field.

Preferably ​5+ years of experience in car rental, fleet management, or corporate transportation, including team supervision.

Proven experience in vendor sourcing, negotiation, and service delivery.

Good knowledge of Maputo’s routes, airport operations, and local transport market.

Proficiency in Portuguese and English.

Working knowledge of Excel, booking systems, and vehicle tracking platforms.

Valid driving license preferred.
